Melissa Carnes

Melissa joined the Asbury Foundation in June 2008 as the Director of Development for the Asbury Foundation at Asbury~Solomons Island.  As a fifth generation Calvert County native, Melissa is proud to work in the community where she was raised.  Her primary responsibilities are fundraising for the Benevolent Care Fund at Asbury~Solomons, and assisting with other needs at the Solomons campus that rely on philanthropy for completion.  She also helps research grant opportunities for the Asbury Foundation.  She finds the most rewarding part of her career to be the lessons she learns from the residents with whom she works.  “Knowing that my work helps our residents in need is extremely rewarding, but the relationships I build with our amazing residents help to make me a better person – that’s a benefit of my job that no one told me would be such a valuable part of my work with the Asbury Foundation.”  Melissa holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Education from the University of Maryland – College Park, and is a Certified Fund Raising Executive.
