Martha Young Memorial Garden

When the Martha Barner Young Memorial Garden was dedicated at Bethany Village on August 7, 2007, it was the culmination of a generous gift made possible by Dr. Carl E.Young and his late wife Martha B. Young.

Martha Young Garden

Before Mrs. Young passed away in 2006, the couple saw an attractive area at the community located between The Oaks Skilled Nursing and Maplewood Assisted Living buildings. They immediately liked the location as a place to develop a garden, and Dr. Young worked with the community’s management to direct Mrs. Young’s Charitable Gift Annuities toward something she loved.

This beautiful garden between Oaks Skilled Nursing and MapleWood Assisted Living includes meandering sidewalks, electric power, a large wheelchair accessible, gazebo, fountain and Garden Train (added by the Train Club in 2007).

The Martha Young Memorial Garden Perpetual Care Specific Purpose Fund is used to regularly maintain the garden and periodically add to it. This area of the community is one of the most well-used and well-loved of all areas on campus.
