Pastoral Care Fund
The Pastoral Care Fund at Asbury Methodist Village is used to support the ministries of the Guild Memorial Chapel Congregation, the Caring Ministry of Asbury Methodist Village, and the Pastoral Care Department.
The Guild Memorial Chapel Congregation worships each Sunday at 9:30 a.m. and donates its offerings to a variety of causes. Some of the beneficiaries have included the Salvation Army, Montgomery Hospice, Gaithersburg HELP, the Lord’s Table, the Capital Area Food Bank, and the Asbury Methodist Village Benevolent Care Fund. The congregation has also given scholarships to wait staff who serve in the Dining Rooms on the campus.
The Caring Ministry of Asbury Methodist Village is a group of residents who have received specific training in providing support to residents who are experiencing spiritual and emotional challenges in their lives. The Caring Ministers meet monthly for supervision under the direction of the Director of Pastoral Care and the resident leader of the Caring Ministry. Supervision includes on-going training and the fund supports the purchase of educational materials for this training.
The ministries of the Pastoral Care Department that are not directly funded through the operating budget are supported by the Pastoral Care Fund. The Fund has supported the purchase of resource materials in service to spiritual-based programs delivered to residents, registration fees for conferences and workshops that enhance the skills and competencies of the department members, and honoraria for guest speakers, musicians, and on-site workshop facilitators.
