Sensory Room Creates Peaceful Environment for Residents
Thanks to a generous contribution, the Calvert County Nursing Center in Southern Maryland has created a Sensory Room for its residents. The Therapeutic Recreation and Maintenance departments worked together to plan, design and transform a basic white room into a colorful place of relaxation and calm. It is a space where residents can engage in a variety of sensory activities, and unwind if stressed.
Residents have already enjoyed relaxing in this space next to the tranquil waterfall feature, and in the cozy recliner. The room has a variety of nature sounds that can be played, as well as soft lighting to create a warm environment. Families are encouraged to take advantage of this new room when visiting with their loved ones, and staff have already begun using it during one-on-one visits.
