Gifts and Awareness for Memory Lane

For over 40 years, the Calvert County Nursing Center (CCNC) has provided high-quality, compassionate care to residents of Calvert County, Maryland, who need skilled nursing, post-acute rehabilitation, memory support, palliative care, and respite care. Memory Lane, located within CCNC, is home to 13 seniors needing memory care support. Its mission is to provide a safe place to live for individuals with progressive cognitive disease, while striving to maintain their maximum functional level for as long as possible.

For Calvert County residents Jay and Margie Webster, Memory Lane holds a special place in their hearts. During frequent visits with a family member at CCNC, Jay and Margie recognized a need for a more homelike environment for Memory Lane residents. With their close ties to the surrounding community, they knew they were the right ones to help. They quickly and enthusiastically reached out to the management at a local restaurant, Chesapeake Market and Deli, and told them about CCNC's Memory Lane and the critical population it serves. Chesapeake Market and Deli occasionally features a local nonprofit on their countertop "tip jar." They were happy to raise funds to benefit Memory Lane for the month of April 2017.

Chesapeake Market and Deli is located at Herrington Harbour in beautiful North Beach, Maryland. Locals and visitors flock there to enjoy the deli's unique menu items and Maryland crab cakes! CCNC leadership, included new administrator Todd Miller-Jones, arranged a special lunch outing to support the Memory Lane fundraiser. Todd shared, "Through philanthropy and the generosity of the Calvert County community, we have been able to further the valuable resources that support memory care as well as our entire long-term-care community."

Many supported the effort during the month of April, raising $725 for Memory Lane. These gifts will be used to help enhance spaces that provide comfort, routine, and social opportunities for Memory Lane residents.

The Asbury Foundation and CCNC are especially grateful for the collaboration with Jay & Margie Webster and Chesapeake Market and Deli!
